Summary: The latest batch of potential recruits aren’t impressing Ianto.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
“And this,” Ianto said, gesturing to the first of a veritable maze of underground rooms and passageways lined with shelves and filing cabinets, “is the Torchwood archives, where we house all the artefacts that fall through the Rift.”
The potential new recruits didn’t appear particularly impressed.
“Looks like a garage sale,” one commented.
Ianto fixed him with a disapproving glare. “Every item down here has been extensively researched, identified, repaired where possible, catalogued photographed, and assigned a place. There is a file on each and every one of these artefacts, containing all the information we have on it, from when, where, and by whom it was found, down to what it is and what, if anything, it does.”
“What’s the point? I mean it’s just a load of old junk. Why bother keeping it?”
Torchwood must be scraping the bottom of the barrel if this lot had made it to the final round of the selection process.
Picking up an item from a nearby shelf, Ianto turned it over in his hands. “Why keep something that melts any kind of glass almost instantaneously? Why keep something that can turn a person’s bones to rubber? You’ve got a lot to learn.”
The End
