“What’s the point of honeymoonin’ in Vegas if we don’t do a bit of gamblin’?” Dee asked.

Ryo shrugged; it was a valid question. “We could see a show.”

“We will, but come on, don’t ya wanna hit the casinos, see if we can get lucky?”

“What I want is to not be broke by the time we go home.” Ryo was smiling though; he had no intention of spoiling Dee’s fun, and in truth, he did want to try his hand. He didn’t want either of them going overboard though.

“So we set limits and stick to ‘em, a hundred bucks each, don’t touch our winnings, assumin’ we win
anything, and when our stake money’s gone, we go see a show. How’s that sound?”

“Okay, that seems fair enough.”

They changed their money into red and blue chips, and Dee got ten dollars of quarters for the slot machines, giving half to Ryo, who handed Dee one of his red chips, then it was out onto the floor to have some fun.

They played roulette, craps, and blackjack, won a bit here and there, but lost more. By the time they ran out of their original chips, Dee had thirty dollars in winnings, and Ryo, the more cautious player, had forty-three.

“Ouch!” Dee grinned. “Guess we’ll never make a livin’ from gamblin’. Okay. Let’s hit the slots, blow our last ten bucks, and then we’re outta here.

Prowling among the slot machines, they found a couple across from each other that were unoccupied and settled in to play.

Ryo’s third pull of the lever netted him ten dollars in change, his whoop of delight had Dee spinning around on his stool.

“Way to go, babe!”

A few minutes later, Dee scored a small win of his own, only a couple of dollars, and fed the coins back into the machine without getting anything back. Shoving his last coin in the slot and pulling the lever, he turned to go and was stopped dead as lights started flashing and coins poured out.

“What the…” He stared wide-eyed at the silver cascade and the line of symbols telling him he’d just won the five-thousand-dollar jackpot. “WHOOHOO! Ain’t that a pretty sight?”

“Beats my ten bucks,” Ryo agreed, smiling.

“What a day! Gimme a hand with all of our loot, babe. We’ll be goin’ home rich!”

“Providing we don’t gamble it away.”
