There’d been dry weather recently, so while Ianto was indoors with the windows open, doing a spot of cleaning, Jack was outside in the back garden, mowing the lawn.

Since moving into Ianto’s small end of terrace house, Jack had enthusiastically embraced domestic life, helping to make the bed every morning, doing his share of the cooking, learning how to use the washing machine, and practically dragging Ianto to the supermarket to buy groceries. Now, at long last, he was finally being allowed to work in the garden and he was loving it. Things had changed a lot since he last lived in a house.

A loud bang from outside brought Ianto running and he dashed through the open French windows to find Jack standing, bemused, holding a length of orange cable in each hand.

He looked sheepishly at Ianto. “I think I broke your lawnmower. I was mowing, and then… BANG!”

“Yes, I heard. DON’T DO THAT!” Ianto yelped as Jack experimentally shoved the two chewed cable ends together.

“I’m only trying to fix it!”

“This is why I have a circuit-breaker on the plug. The last thing I need is you electrocuting yourself in front of the neighbours!”

The End

I've been trying to figure out what's different between the UK's lawn mowers and ours.

The one I grew-up with was gas. Then I lived in apartments until 20 or so years ago and then the place included mowing and my Mom's house she paid a mower and I keep him on, but he passed away. I took on the guy that took over his clients. I don't think I've ever seen an electric. I wonder if we have them. I suppose we would since we have electric cars. I know what you mean about the smelll of gas, though. It was windy the last timeI pumped gas for the car and it made me gag.

I know they make a battery powered trimmer or they did when I was a kid. I'm not sure what sort of yard stuff they have now. It would be nice to have an electric mower.
