Setting: Vol. 1, Act 2.
Summary: Once again, Dee has left Ryo feeling off balance and conflicted.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.
Everything’s a bit chaotic, a bit desperate, even for a seasoned police officer and newly promoted detective. Ryo’s picking up a few groceries on his day off when the girl, Carol, shows up, terrified that men with guns are after her.
He does what he can, contacts the precinct, tells them he’s bringing her in, but first he has to get them both there in one piece, which won’t be easy as they’re being followed.
When Dee shows up out of the blue it’s like a miracle, although he claims he was alerted by the gunfire, which makes more sense than him instinctively knowing his partner’s in danger… Well, whatever; Dee’s armed, which helps, but still doesn’t solve anything. There are too many gunmen searching for Carol, and no way to avoid them all.
Dee’s idea to deal with that is a kind of protective camouflage, but it takes Ryo completely by surprise when his partner grabs and kisses him.
Sure, it works; the gunmen head away at speed, thinking they’ve lost their quarry. But while his partner acts insufferably smug, Ryo is livid; Dee never asks, just pounces, and it’s infuriating!
The worst part is, he kinda liked it.
The End
