Summary: Another Rift Gift is causing problems for Jack and Ianto.

It was just another Rift retrieval, the kind of thing members of the Torchwood Three team had to deal with several times a week; business as usual, which in this case meant that everything had gone wrong that possibly could. It wasn’t necessarily anyone’s fault, because life with Torchwood often seemed to be an endless series of disasters, some of which, if they were lucky, they managed to prevent from causing too much harm. Still, it was inconvenient, leaving Ianto to sort out the mess. Story of his life.

 
“You know this wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t dropped the bloody thing!”
 

“No,” Jack disagreed. “We don’t know that. This might’ve happened even if I hadn’t dropped it, and anyway, how was I to know it was so slippery?”
 

That was a fair point; the object that had come through the Rift had appeared quite smooth, but the fact that it was coated in a thin film of something greasy hadn’t been apparent until Jack was picking it up and it had slipped from his fingers.
 

Now, for reasons unknown, Jack’s legs had shrunk so he couldn’t walk, and Ianto was having to carry him.

 
“Try not to drop me.”
