A/N: Double drabble.
It was some small consolation that the bone wasn’t broken, it was just some moderate tendon damage; Dee’s wrist should heal by itself without the need for surgery, but it meant he was stuck wearing a wrist brace for the duration, to keep the damaged tendons from getting overstretched, or even torn.
Thankfully, it was Dee’s right wrist, rather than his dominant hand, so that could also be considered a stroke of luck. It was a colossal pain to only have the use of one hand, but despite not exactly being a practising Catholic these days, Dee thanked God for his mercy.
“I’ll be there to help you with anything you can’t manage one-handed,” Ryo promised. “At home anyway; I might not always be available to help you at the precinct.” Ryo was being assigned a temporary partner until Dee’s wrist healed, something neither man was especially happy about, but just like everyone else in the world, sometimes, regardless of what you did for a living, you just had to play the hand you were dealt.
“Guess I’m gonna haveta suck it up.”
“It won’t be for very long.”
“Maybe not, but ridin’ a desk, it’s gonna feel like forever.”
