Summary: Merrick says she’s the Slayer now, but Buffy SO isn’t ready.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
‘This is my life now,’ Buffy thought, gloomily staring at the sharp-pointed piece of wood she was gripping tightly in her hand. ‘From now on, I’m always going to be worrying about what might be lurking in the dark. Vampires, demons, maybe goblins and stuff…’
Then it hit her. She wouldn’t simply be worrying about such things, now that she knew they were real, and not just myths, legends, and fictional characters. She was the one who’d be expected to deal with them, just like the vampire she’d staked a moment ago.
She looked up at the man, Mr Merrick, who called himself her Watcher, wondering if he was thinking the same things she was. That she wasn’t ready for this, she was too scared, too clumsy, knew too little… How could he, or anyone else, expect her to protect the world from the forces of evil when she barely knew how to hold a stake? It had been dumb luck that she’d hit the right spot, and vamp had just gone… poof.
He smiled slightly beneath his moustache, nodded, seeming satisfied.
“Not bad, a touch hesitant, but you’ll learn.”
Right. She’d either learn or she’d die.
Better learn fast.
The End
