Jack does go, after being dead for three days, reviving, kissing Ianto in front of the team... Then while most of the team is out getting coffee, Jack heard the TARDIS and off he goes, without leaving a note. He doesn't have a good time on the trip, but at least he asks Ianto out on a date after he comes back.
