Setting: Nada.
Summary: Dee never buys flowers for himself. Right?
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.
A red rose, or a bunch of them, was a traditional Valentine’s Day gift, and Dee never minded the giving or receiving of them. He was even happy to receive flowers at other times, as long as they came from whoever he was dating, or were an apology or thank you gift. If they came from JJ, they went straight in the bin, but that was because he didn’t want to encourage his colleague, not because he disliked floral arrangements.
Dee gave Ryo flowers on various occasions, took them to Jess’s grave, even brought a bunch for Mother now and then, because she deserved something pretty to brighten her life, but he never brought flowers for himself. He couldn’t see the point. If he wanted to treat himself, he’d buy an expensive bottle of booze, or something edible that he didn’t usually splash out for, expensive chocolates, fancy cheeses, a really good cut of steak to throw on the barbecue…
So why was he walking back from the store today with a bunch of flowers sticking out of his grocery bag? The only reason he could think of was that they were so bright and cheerful, he couldn’t resist them.
The End
