“You’re goin’ where?” Dee frowned at his partner, his lover for all of three months.
“Bikky’s away at summer camp with Carol, and I have some vacation days coming, so I thought I’d get out of town, do something fun. As much as I love being a dad, between that and work, it can be difficult finding time to do the things I enjoy. I already talked to Carol’s aunt, and she’s agreed to be the camp’s emergency contact number for Biks as well as Carol, just while I’m away and out of phone contact.”
“You’re goin’ somewhere with no phones?” Dee seemed horrified at the very thought.
“Yes, Dee. There’s no electricity in a tent to recharge a phone, and probably no phone towers once I get out into the mountains.”
“Tent? Mountains? You’re goin’ campin’? Isn’t that kinda dangerous by yourself?”
“I’ll check in with the park rangers, let them know where I plan to camp, and when I’ll be back. I’ve done this before, Dee.” Ryo smiled. “You could come with me, you know. My tent is plenty big enough for two, and I’ve got a spare sleeping bag.”
“Me? Campin? Guess you’ve talked me into it.”
