Even Rory felt awed, looking up at the vast, timeless structure built of a curiously opalescent stone. For sheer size it put even the biggest cathedrals on earth to shame, and its magnificence was enough to make anyone’s heart soar with joy.

 
“What is it, and why was it built?”
 

Hands in his pockets, the Doctor rocked back on his heels. “It’s a bit of a sad story. It was originally a monastery, a retreat where people would come from across the universe to heal their souls.”

 
“So what is it now?” Amy asked.
 

“A factory. They make door handles.”

XD that is very Doctor Who-ish. And, hey, door handles are important things! Wouldn't want to live in a world without them.

Yep, door handles are widely used, which is why I went with them for the manufactured item. I thought of spoons, which would have worked too, only I'm not sure even aliens would have a factory dedicated to JUST spoons. Door handles, on the other hand, come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, so...
