BtVS Triple Drabble: The Beast Inside

Spoilers/Setting: Beauty and the Beasts.
Summary: Monsters are something Buffy is used to, but this one is different because he made himself this way.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters.
A/N: Triple drabble.
Vampires were one thing; Buffy pretty much knew the deal when it came to them. They’d kill to eat, and then sometimes infect their victim to make a new vampire. Same body, but with a demon in control in place of a human soul.
Werewolves were another matter, but it really wasn’t their fault. They didn’t choose to be the way they were, they simply had the bad luck to get bitten and after that the influence of the full moon turned them into animals three nights a month.
Pete though…
Pete was a whole other ball game because he wasn’t a victim. What he became was something he’d done to himself, all to make himself more macho so Debbie wouldn’t leave him. Why did boys think all girls wanted some kind of macho man?
Maybe Pete had been sweet once, kind and gentle, like Scott. Maybe sometimes he still was. But the new persona he’d given himself was anything but, and he didn’t even need his potion to do the whole Jekyll to Hyde switch anymore.
Debbie was the one Buffy felt bad for, because she knew what it was like to have a loving boyfriend turn mean and cruel; it had happened with Angel. Just as Debbie still loved Pete, remembering how he’d been before, part of Buffy had still loved Angel and clung to the hope of getting him back, even as Angelus had taunted her and terrorised her friends.
But Pete was out of control; he had to be stopped, by whatever means necessary, preferably before he killed again. Two good people had already died as a result of his jealous rages, and the only reason Oz hadn’t become the third victim was because of his werewolf strength.
Time for the Slayer to join the fight.
