A/N: Double drabble.
“Hey, babe,” Dee said cheerfully, coming up behind his lover, who was seated at the table, leafing through the evening paper. Ryo had headed straight home after work to get dinner started while Dee went over to the orphanage to run a few errands for Mother. The delicious aromas of cooking filled the air, making Dee’s mouth water. “Dinner almost ready? I’m starving.” He put one hand on his partner’s shoulder, leaning down, intending to kiss the top of Ryo’s head, but it didn’t quite go to plan.
With a startled yell, Ryo shot upright, accidentally headbutting Dee on the chin, sending him stumbling backwards to fall on his butt. “Ow!”
“Dee! Oh God, I’m so sorry! I didn’t hear you come in!” Ryo pulled his earbuds from his ears, dumping them and his phone on the table before hurrying to help his lover up. “I was listening to an audiobook. Are you okay?”
“A few bruises, and I think my ego took a pretty big hit.” Dee let his partner help him up. “I’ll live. But in future, if you’ve got your earbuds in, maybe you should sit facin’ the door. Then maybe I can avoid makin’ you jump.”
