A/N: Drabble and a half, 150 words




“Finish your milk, Bikky,” Ryo reminded the boy, who’d been about to dash off, the contents of the glass barely touched.


“Why?” the boy demanded, feeling rebellious. “Milk’s for little kids.


“Newsflash, runt,” said Dee, lounging at the table reading the paper. “You’re still a kid.”


“Am not! I’m fifteen, that’s practically grown up!”


“You won’t be an adult for several years yet, Biks, and you’ve still got a lot of growing to do,” Ryo said firmly. “Drink your milk; you need the calcium to build strong bones if you’re going to play basketball. You break your ankle landing badly taking a shot and your career could be over before it even starts.”


Ryo’s words stopped Bikky in his tracks. “That couldn’t really happen, could it?”


“Without enough calcium to fuel your growth, yes. You could end up with weak bones, like kids in poor countries.”


Bikky drank his milk.
