Summary: He’d hit her and she’d fought back, but she hadn’t meant to kill him…

Buffy felt numb. Okay, so she’d hated Ted, there was something definitely not right about him, and he’d assaulted her in her own home, in her own room, slapping her so hard she’d rebounded off the wall, but she hadn’t meant to kill him, just rough him up a little, teach him not to mess with her stuff. Only it hadn’t worked out that way.


It had been an accident! He’d started it, sort of, and that last kick… She hadn’t noticed how close he was to the stairs. God, people fell down stairs all the time and only wound up with a few bruises, but Ted had to go and break his neck.


She’d never killed a person before. Vampires and demons, sure, but not an actual human being. Now the police were here, wanting to ask her questions, and what could she tell them? That she hadn’t liked him, that he’d hit her, that she’d hit back?


Were they going to charge her with murder? She could be sent to jail, maybe for life.


None of this had been meant to happen and she wanted so badly to turn the clock back, but time didn’t work that way.
