“Hey!” Jack’s voice echoed through the pitch darkness of the Hub. “Who turned the lights out?”
“Power cut,” Ianto yelled back. “With the storm raging up top, we shouldn’t be surprised. Lightning probably took out a transformer.” There was a quiet click in the silence that followed, and a bright beam of light cut through the blackness. “There we go. Torchwood, land of the torch.”
There was a sound of someone bumping into things and then Jack appeared in his office doorway, shielding his eyes to avoid being dazzled. “Shouldn’t the emergency power have kicked in when the lights went out?”
“It would have, if a certain person had signed off on the requisitions sheet that’s been on his desk for the last three weeks. We’re out of generator fuel, as I’ve been telling you, repeatedly.”
“Oh. Right. I’ll go sign it now.” Jack started to fumble his way back to his desk, but Ianto stopped him.
“Signing it isn’t going to help, the order has to be placed online, and we don’t currently have internet. We’ll have to wait
until the power comes back.”
“Oh.” Jack thought for a moment. “Wanna play naked hide and seek in the dark?”
The End
