Characters: Dee, Ryo.
Rating: PG
Setting: Years after Like Like Love.
Summary: The years are starting to leave their mark on Dee.
Written Using: The dw100 prompt ‘Salt And Pepper’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Triple drabble.
When the first grey hairs had started appearing, Dee had been sorely tempted to reach for the hair dye. A few laughter lines around his eyes had been one thing, but grey hairs were a sign of aging that were impossible for him to ignore.
Then Ryo had made an offhand comment about the hint of grey at his temples, saying it made him look distinguished, so he’d held off on dying it. If his lover liked the grey, then Dee supposed he ought to give it a chance. Maybe it would grow on him, pun NOT intended.
He still wasn’t sure about the salt and pepper look. Over the last few years those initial few greys seemed to have invited several more generations of their family to the party, but Ryo still seemed to approve of the way he looked, and that was good enough for Dee. Besides, if he went jet black again now, everyone would know he was dying his hair, and then they’d probably think he was vain, which he was. He’d always been proud of his looks, but he’d rather not draw attention to that particular personality trait. Vanity wasn’t something to be proud of.
Anyway, so what if he was starting to show his age? It wasn’t as if he was letting himself go; he still looked damn good, even if he said so himself. He’d kept himself in shape over the years, still had toned muscles rather than flab, unlike some of his colleagues, and he moisturised. It made a noticeable difference.
Yes, he wore glasses now, or contacts; his eyesight wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t what it used to be. Even so, and despite the greying hair, he could still pass for ten years younger, and at least he wasn’t going bald!
The End
