Spoilers: Children of Earth Fix-it, sort of.
Summary: Torchwood needs to be ready to guide the people of earth into the future.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
Somewhere down the line, a hundred, two hundred, years into the future, the human race would look back on this time as a turning point in human history, the day the entire world knew for sure that aliens existed. Even Torchwood couldn’t retcon an entire planet, nor would they wish to, because the 456 incident would serve as a lesson to everyone that some things came with much too high a price.
Torchwood had, by good fortune and a random twist of fate, managed to defeat the aliens who’d tried to bribe and threaten the governments of earth into surrendering ten percent of the planet’s children. The danger was past, and the enemy destroyed, and yet that hadn’t been the end of it. Around the world, governments were being overthrown; ordinary people, most of them parents, were up in arms because nothing in their lives was more precious than their children.
Almost overnight, the world was changing, people, communities, entire nations banding together to stand firm against whatever threat they might face next. Torchwood’s problem would be to educate everyone, because not all aliens were hostile; many only had earth’s best interests at heart. People needed to learn the difference.
