“Happy anniversary, babe. Sorry it’s a bit late.” Dee gave a wry smile; it had been one of those weeks at work, the kind that didn’t allow for anything resembling a personal life, but Dee intended to make up for it now. They had one day off before they had to get back to the grind, and it was going to be brilliant, starting with breakfast in bed.


“I hadn’t even realised,” Ryo admitted. “To be honest I’m not completely sure what day this is.”


“Not our anniversary, but close enough to count. Here.”


“I didn’t get you anything.”


“Good, because I didn’t have time to shop either. All I got here is breakfast; I whipped this up from what was in your kitchen. It’s just coffee, toast, and a cheese omelette, not exactly gourmet cuisine, but…”


“Sounds great, I’m starving! You did make enough for two, right?”


“Yep! Shove over and make room for me?”


Doing as instructed, Ryo plumped up the pillows and took the tray as Dee slid into bed beside him. He set it down so they could both get at the contents.


“Don’t stand on ceremony; dig in.”


Ryo kissed his lover. “Happy anniversary, Dee.”
