Summary: Dee takes an offhand comment from Ryo and creates a wonderful surprise for his lover.

“Sometimes I miss having a garden,” Ryo said, carefully watering the pots of herbs on the kitchen windowsill: parsley, thyme, marjoram, chives, and mint. “My dad used to grow vegetables and fruit; they’re so much tastier fresh from the garden. Living in an apartment is convenient for work, but there’s not much scope for growing anything.”


It was a throwaway comment, Ryo didn’t expect a reply and Dee didn’t give one, but he didn’t forget either, and the next time he had the day off while Ryo was working, he put his plan into action.


When Ryo arrived home, Dee was waiting for him, not even giving him the chance to take his shoes off before dragging him back out the door and up onto the roof. There Ryo found tubs and troughs of earth arrayed against the south-facing retaining wall.


Ryo was stunned. “What’s this?”


“Your garden. Wasn’t sure what you’d want to grow, but I figured we could go pick up a few plants if you’re not too tired, maybe some other stuff…”


That was as far as he got because suddenly Ryo was in his arms, kissing him.


“This is wonderful! Thank you.”


“Anything for you, babe.”

Love it! So adorable! I'm not a gardener myself -- TOTAL black thumb instead --, but I can relate. I'm far more of a library nut myself and do miss having my own library. We hope to set up the room where his mother was before she went nuts on us (and my egg donor's back to and still trying to throw us in prison, BTW, please pray for us) into a family game room/library, but there's no telling when or even if we'll actually get to do it because of everything else going on.

I hope you do succeed eventually, having a room like that would be cool (all my novels are in my bedroom, N.F. mostly downstairs, but there are books everywhere).

Thank you, hon. *hugs back* We're trying so hard not to let this get to us, but it's scary as mess. I fully believe he'd still be waiting for me when I got out if she succeeded in putting me in, but I don't want to miss out on all those years with him, with the happiness and love God has finally given me through connecting us. I absolutely cannot believe that He didn't intend for us to get together, because I had just started praying and asking if He had greater plans for me than just that mess I was living with like TWO days before J and I met at 4:30 in the MORNING. We're meant to be together, we're trying our best to live our lives right, so God will see us through this, but I just don't want YEARS apart. *sigh* At any rate, I did make him promise if anything happens to me he will let y'all know on DW.

The "grand jury" is supposed to convene over the case in August.
