Summary: Rhys is worried that Gwen might prefer Jack to him.

“Don’t be ridiculous, Rhys,” Gwen scoffed impatiently. “Of course I’m not interested in Jack; he’s my boss! I’ll admit he’s very handsome, and he knows it, but I’m already spoken for. What kind of woman do you think I am? Do you really think I’d cheat on you with my boss?”


She’d thought about it, countless times, even fantasised about what it would be like, Jack’s hard, muscular body instead of Rhys’ pudgy beer belly, but Jack had never done more than flirt.


“Well, no, but I’ve seen the way he smiles at you, and like you said, he’s not short on looks.” Rhys wouldn’t have minded messing up that too handsome face, making knocking out some of those pearly white teeth in the process.


“Jack smiles at everyone that way, love; he’s a gigantic flirt with an ego to match. Thinks everyone will just fall over themselves to be with him, but not me.” She reached up to peck Rhys on the lips. “Now stop fussing, I’ve got to go. Probably some kind of emergency that needs a woman’s touch; that lot would be lost without me.” Grabbing her jacket, Gwen headed out the door.


Owen would be waiting.
