Summary: Ianto has never been out into space before, but there’s a first time for everything.

A/N: Double drabble. Set in my Ghost of a Chance ‘Verse.
 
 


“How fast are we going?” Ianto asked from where he was sitting in the co-pilot’s seat, trying to familiarise himself with the various dials and read-outs on the spacecraft’s console. He’d never been into space before, so he was facing a steep learning curve.
 

“Hm?” Jack looked up from confirming their heading on the ship’s computers. He’d just taken them out of normal space and into the vortex, which they’d travel through until they were close enough to their destination that they could reach it in a few hours, travelling at close to light speed. He was taking Ianto to a space station orbiting a planet some twenty light years from earth, a distance he claimed was a relatively short hop in Galactic terms.

 
“What’s our speed?”
 

“Oh, speed’s sort of irrelevant in the vortex. We’re outside normal space so the usual rules don’t apply, but we should be at the coordinates I’ve set in approximately five days; then we’ll re-enter normal space and dock with Orla Station a few hours later. We’ll re-fuel there, and after that, we can go wherever we choose.”
 

“Twenty light years in five days.” It was further than Ianto could imagine. “That’s very fast.”
