“If you just came down here to annoy me, you can go right back upstairs again,” Ianto said, squeezing past Jack to continue cataloguing the contents of a small room in the depths of the archives.


“I didn’t; you’ve been down here for hours so I thought I’d see how you’re getting on, and make sure you’re okay.”


“Well, you’ve seen, and I’m fine, so now you can go away again.”


“Wouldn’t you rather have company?”


“No.”


“But it’s so quiet down here!”


“I prefer to think of it as peaceful. I can get a lot more done when I’m not being interrupted every five minutes.” Ianto squeezed past Jack again in the opposite direction.


“But I could help! I could pass you things.”


“It would take me longer to ask you for something than it does to get it myself.” Ianto typed a description of the next item into his laptop, and added photographs, using a camera Tosh had invented that uploaded images straight to Torchwood’s computers. Then he had to squeeze past Jack yet again. “If you don’t get out of the way you’ll be drinking instant decaf for eternity.”


“You’re annoyed, aren’t you?”


“How did you guess?”
