Summary: Jack has found a new toy for Tosh to play with.

“You’re going to love this!” Jack says, grinning all over his face as he sets something down on Tosh’s workstation.
 

Predictably, Tosh lights up; she always enjoys having a new piece of alien tech to play with, whether it’s something Jack thinks he can identify or not. This time he seems sure of himself, although that’s no guarantee; he could still be wrong.
 

“What is it?” Tosh grins up at her boss. His enthusiasm is contagious.

 
“It translates stuff!”
 

Tosh’s face falls. All the time and effort she’s been putting into her translation programme and now this little device comes along to make her work obsolete.
 

“A translator.”
 

“Not like you’re thinking.” Jack is still grinning. “It doesn’t translate the spoken word, it’s more of a multi-lingual dictionary. It translates the written word. You set your language preference, scan whatever text you want translating, and it’ll come up on the screen in your chosen language. There might be some grammatical inaccuracies, but that’s half the fun.”
 

“Oh!” Now Tosh is interested again. All the text on things in the archives could now become clear!
 

“You’ll have to programme it for English, but I think you’re gonna have fun with it.”
