Summary: Jack is irked with Gwen for refusing to Retcon Rhys.

“I’m supposed to be the boss! Why doesn’t anyone ever do what I tell them?” Jack grumbled once he and Ianto were alone.

 
“We do. Mostly. I mean, sometimes one of us will have a better idea and tell you so, but you’d rather that than blind obedience, right?”

 
“Of course, but that’s not what I’m talking about. When did ‘No’ start meaning ‘Ignore what I say and just do whatever you want’? Why does she defy me like that?”
 

“I gather we’re talking about Gwen here.”
 

“Who else would we be talking about? What she said about Tosh, and Owen, and you... That was completely out of line, and then refusing to Retcon Rhys! Keeping what we do secret from outsiders is a matter of security! The rest of you don’t go blabbing to everyone you know!”

 
“The rest of us aren’t married to someone who blundered into our world by chance.”
 

“You’re taking Gwen’s side now?”
 

“No, I’m just saying that she didn’t tell Rhys about the space whale, he found that out for himself, and he did help us. Maybe him retaining his memories could be a good thing. Never know when we might need a truck.”

Depends on the vehicle. There are trucks and there are lorries. I there's been a certain amount of Americanisation in the terminology over time.

*grins* Not your fault though. Language evolves constantly, if it didn't we'd still be speaking like characters out of Shakespeare, or worse!

It was hard to see even 25-years-ago give or take at what we did to your culture when I was there. KFC, Pizza Hut, 7-11....among other things. All I could think of at the time was that we ruined England. For some reason I didn't feel the same when I was in Germany in High School, I think it had something to do with the unfortunate soup that they kept feeding us on that trip. Liver Ball Soup was inedible. Apparently, it's the regional dish of Bavaria. It didn't make it taste any better.

People everywhere like their fast food. I think you have higher expectations of British culture than the British do. Over here it's football hooligans, lager louts, and vandalism, but we have lots of nice castles ;)

It's not so much the UK culture, it's the pub food. I love me pub food, :D Why eat fast food when you can get Shepard's Pie and Fish and Chips? There was the best little place not far from my hotel that had falafel dirt cheap. That was yummy too. There was a pub in Edinburgh that introduced me to banoffi pie. I know you can't eat that, but it was very tasty.

Pub food over here is still good, you just have to pick the right pub, and there are a lot of fish and chip shops still.

Sounds so good. We're getting an Irish Pub in town. I'm crossing my fingers that it will be good. Those old historic pubs you guys have are awesome.

I ate in one that was famous in London for something, but I can't remember now what it was. I hate when I forget things.

Getting older sucks. I can remember the plots of both books I'm reading, but I can't remember what I did last week.
