A/N: Double drabble.
“Sorry, love.” Gwen gave Rhys a quick kiss as she pulled her jacket on. “I’ve been called back into work, bit of an emergency, all hands on deck.”
“Again? That’s the second time this week,” Rhys grumbled. “I thought we were going to have a quiet night in. You promised.”
“I know, and I’ll make it up to you, I swear, but when work calls I have to go; it’s my job. I don’t want to find out later that someone died because the team were shorthanded.”
“You’re right, go on, be off with you. Just be careful, okay?”
“I will, I promise. Love you.” Gwen swept out the door before Rhys could reply and hurried down to her car.
Rhys was a good man, and she knew she shouldn’t lie to him like this. She wasn’t needed at work; Jack had given the whole team the night off, but the thought of spending it in front of the TV, watching some inane reality show, had been unbearable. That wasn’t who she was anymore, she needed more in her life, more excitement, more thrills.
Pulling out her phone, she called Owen. “I’m on my way over, see you in twenty.”
