Ianto seemed a little… awkward as he approached Tosh’s workstation. He was frowning, and kept glancing around, checking that nobody else was in sight.
“Is everything alright?” Tosh kept her voice low.
“Fine.” Ianto nodded even as his frown deepened. “I think. Can I ask you something?”
“Of course, anytime. You know that.” Tosh and Ianto had grown even closer during Jack’s absence; she doubted that would change now their errant boss had returned. “What is it?”
“During all that stuff with John Hart, Jack asked me out on a date. I figured he’d probably forget, but he hasn’t, so tonight…” Ianto shrugged. “Dinner and a movie.”
“That’s wonderful!” Tosh was delighted for her friend. “It is wonderful, isn’t it?”
“Yes, of course, it’s just… I’ve never been on a date with a bloke before, not a proper date. Not quite sure how it works. Like at the restaurant, should I offer to split the bill? I mean, when I was dating Lisa, I paid, because that’s what my mam said I should do, the man always pays, but with two men…” Ianto trailed off again.
Tosh grinned. “First rule of dating: the one who does the asking always pays.”
