Even in New York during Pride Month, being gay could attract unwanted attention. Not that Dee and Ryo had been doing anything offensive; they were cops, so they knew exactly what was considered acceptable in public and what wasn’t. All they were doing was walking along the sidewalk, hand-in-hand, getting an advance look at the preparations being made for the Pride parade in a couple of days.

 
Naturally, something had to happen to burst their happy bubble.
 

The woman was middle-aged, her ample body crammed into tight pants and a top that looked to be at least three sizes too small. She stopped right in front of them, a deeply offended expression twisting her face.

 
“Disgusting!” she sneered. “People like you should be locked up, parading around in front of decent folk, displaying your perversions!”

 
Dee wasn’t in the mood. “Lady, if you think we’re disgustin’, maybe you should look in a mirror.”
 

“How dare you speak to me like that!” The woman drew her hand back, preparing to aim a slap at Dee’s face, but never got that far, as both of her braless breasts popped out of her low-necked top.

 
Frowning down at them, Dee looked her in the eye and swept his jacket aside to reveal his detective’s shield clipped to his belt.

 
“Why’d ya haveta go and do that?” he asked in pained tones. “See, now I gotta arrest ya for indecent exposure, causin’ a public disturbance, and threatenin’ a police officer.”

 
The woman’s face turned scarlet as she tried to wrestle her attributes back inside her top, which promptly split. Being a gentleman, Ryo took off his jacket and draped it around her, although it didn’t help much, while Dee cuffed the
woman’s hands in front of her.
 

“Next time, maybe buy a bigger size.”
