A/N: Triple drabble.
Their shift was over, and if they had any sense, they’d be on their way home by now, but so far they hadn’t gotten very far. It had been snowing heavily earlier, and every car in the precinct’s parking lot was buried under a white blanket, so first they’d gone along brushing snow off cars, trying to find their own vehicles, and somehow that had turned into a snowball fight. Now, thirty minutes later, here they were, laughing their heads off as they scooped snow off cars and threw it at each other, dodging for cover to avoid getting hit.
Ryo’s hands in his gloves were half frozen, but the rest of him was toasty warm from the exertion. Dee had snow on the back of his coat from where he’d slipped and fallen into a drift, but so far Ryo had managed to stay on his feet.
“Hey!” Dee shouted. “I found my car!”
“Good. Maybe that means we can head home.” Ryo started towards his partner. “I parked mine a couple of spaces over from yours.” He slipped and slithered his way to where Dee was standing. “Well? Aren’t you going to clear the rest of the snow off?”
“What for? So we can be stuck in traffic for the next couple hours, tryin’ to drive home? Most of the roads probably haven’t been plowed yet.”
“Then why were we even trying to find our cars?”
Dee shrugged. “I left my scarf in mine this mornin’, figured I might need it, takin’ the subway home.” He unlocked the door and reached inside, retrieving his scarf, and wrapping it around his neck.
Staring at his partner, Ryo burst out laughing again. “All this for a scarf?”
“Hey, gotta admit it was a great excuse for havin’ a snowball fight!”
