A/N: Double drabble.
Jack was in trouble, he just knew it, which was monumentally unfair, since he hadn’t even done anything. He just happened to be there when the device Owen and Gwen had brought back an hour or two ago decided to spontaneously combust. There hadn’t even been time for him to run and fetch the nearest fire extinguisher, or something with which to smother the flames. In fact, it had happened so fast that it was over before the Hub’s sprinklers could kick in.
He stood there, covered head to toe in a fine layer of ash, staring at the melted remains of the containment unit, dripping sluggishly off the edge of Gwen’s workstation onto the floor. A few feet away, Ianto, hands on hips, was glaring at him.
“Jack? What the Hell did you do?”
“Nothing, I swear! I was taking my mug to the kitchen for a refill, and that…” He pointed at the remains, “burst into flames, for no reason!”
“And you just stood there watching it burn?”
“I didn’t have a chance to do anything, it was over in a few seconds! Check the CCTV if you don’t believe me.”
Ianto sighed. “I swear you attract trouble.”
