Despite the fact they were essentially eloping by running off to Vegas without even telling their closest friends and family, Dee was determined to do things right. Getting married was a big deal, and it was something he only intended to do once. So what if they’d be saying their vows in a wedding chapel rather than at some lavish and exorbitantly expensive ceremony in front of dozens of guests? They’d still be promising to love and honour each other as long as they both lived.

He and Ryo had already picked out matching wedding bands, subtle and understated, platinum rather than gold for the sake of durability. Now they needed to decide what they were going to wear for their big day, which was why they were here, checking out suits.

“Which of you is the groom?”

“Both of us,” Dee replied. “And we wanna match, but not exactly.”

“Maybe different colours for the waistcoats and ties,” Ryo suggested.

“Ties? I gotta wear a tie for our weddin’?” Dee’s eyebrows shot up.

“Not if you don’t want to, we could go without if you prefer. I just thought it would look smarter for the wedding photos.”

Dee chewed his bottom lip, thinking hard, then shook his head. “No, you’re right, it would. We can take ‘em off after. Maybe get photos with and without.”

They decided on charcoal grey for their suits, over white shirts, with a deep claret waistcoat and tie for Ryo, and rich emerald green for Dee, both ties striped with grey to match their suits. Then began the seemingly endless round of fittings and alterations, each of them being seen separately.

“Man, I never had this much trouble buyin’ a suit in my life!” Dee muttered. “The time it’s takin’, we could’a gotten ‘em made from scratch. I swear I’ve had every inch of me measured. Multiple times.”

“It’ll be worth it, Dee. You’ll see,” Ryo assured his lover, and of course he was right.

As they turned to face each other at the altar of the wedding chapel, they couldn’t help but stare.

“You look amazin’,” Dee murmured. Ryo’s suit fitted him like a glove.

“So do you.” Ryo smiled at the man he was about to marry as the photographer Dee had arranged snapped away.

Dee smiled back; even without pictures, he knew he’d remember this moment for the rest of his life.
