A/N: Double drabble.
“Bernie Harris, on the fiddle again?” Jack crowded the youth against the nearest wall. “I might’ve guessed you’d be involved; you just never learn. Your mother must be so disappointed. What is it this time?”
“You’ve got it all wrong! I didn’t do nothin’,” Bernie protested.
“If you didn’t do nothing, then you must have done something,” Ianto pointed out, blocking Bernie’s one potential avenue of escape.
“What?” Bernie stared at the other man in confusion and Ianto rolled his eyes.
“Heaven help us, doesn’t anyone teach basic grammar anymore?” He stared at Bernie. “’Didn’t’ and ‘nothing’ are both negatives. Two negatives result in a positive, therefore you must have done something. If you’d said you didn’t do anything…” He trailed off. “Well, we still wouldn’t have believed you. You’re always up to something, and whatever it is, it’s usually illegal.”
Bernie still looked baffled.
“Give it up, Ianto.” Jack grinned at his lover. “Bernie isn’t smart enough to understand you.”
Ianto shook his head regretfully. “I know. I blame the school system these days.”
“So.” Jack turned back to Bernie with a sharklike grin. “What’s this ‘nothing’ you’ve been up to lately? Make no mistake, we WILL find out.”
