“What we need,” said JJ as he and his partner left the precinct after a very stressful day, “is a night out, a chance to let our hair down and just have fun.”
 

“Doing what?” Drake asked. Their dates usually involved dinner out, and maybe a movie, or drinks at a bar. They’d been bowling a couple of times, and ice skating, and for picnics, even out to Coney Island and the funfair, but Drake had a feeling his boyfriend wasn’t talking about any of those things.

 
“I know some great clubs, where the music’s loud and no one will look twice at two men dancing together, except to think how hot we are.” JJ grinned. “I mean gay clubs, of course.”

 
“Of course.” Drake gnawed on his bottom lip. “There’s one problem with that plan though; I can’t dance. Seriously, my mom once told me it’s like I have three left feet, and when I tried to dance at my cousin’s wedding, she said I was flailing my arms so much it looked like I was being attacked by wasps or something. I’d only embarrass you.”
 

JJ just giggled. “Don’t be silly, Drakey. I’ll just have to teach you!”

Drake must be as bad at dancing as I am. My poor husband said he'd teach me to dance for our wedding. I tripped him and he ended up flat on his back looking up at me. I never did learn.

Well, at least it was memorable!

I'm not much for disco dancing, but I did ballroom and Latin for nearly 10 years. Loved that. Way back in my teens I tried to teach my boyfriend, but he had no sense of rhythm and trampled all over my feet. Some people simply aren't dancers, everyone has things they're good at and things they'll never get to grips with, no matter how hard they try. I hope JJ doesn't come to regret trying to teach Drake.
