He’d thought he’d feel bitter after what happened to Lisa at the hands of the Torchwood Three team, and to be fair, for a while he did. He’d tried so hard to save her, but when the others had learned about the secret he’d been hiding in the lower levels, they’d set about destroying her by any means necessary.

It had been beyond horrific, and he still had nightmares, but the more he thought about everything that had happened, the more he saw that what they’d gunned down hadn’t been Lisa.

It wasn’t simply that Lisa had transplanted her brain from her part-converted body into the body on an innocent pizza delivery girl. If he was honest, she’d changed long before that point, but he’d ignored the differences in the way she’d talked, reacted, even thought, because he hadn’t wanted to accept that he was losing her.

He’d grieved her loss, and was still grieving, but at the same time he felt lighter than he had in months, the burden of caring for her, and keeping her hidden, lifted from his shoulders.

Jack and the team had done what he couldn’t, ending Lisa’s suffering, so she could rest in peace.
