Summary: Work had been busy, getting in the way of talking things through, but it’s about time Ryo told Dee the truth.

Saying yes to Dee a few weeks ago, taking their relationship to the next level by sleeping together, hadn’t been a mistake, Ryo was one hundred percent sure of that, but the timing hadn’t been ideal. They’d been in the middle of an important bodyguarding gig, too busy with work to have time to spare for personal matters, and inevitably, they’d had to push their night together to the back of their minds in order to focus on the job at hand.

 
Unfortunately, even after that case had been resolved, they’d had other cases on their desks to work on, and somehow they’d just never gotten around to talking about what had happened between them, which, in retrospect, was an oversight. It wasn’t until work eased up a bit and Ryo had time to think about something other than their caseload, that he realised he’d kind of left Dee hanging with no explanation. Not only had he not broached the subject of their relationship over the last three weeks, but he’d already left his partner’s apartment before Dee woke up that morning, just because he’d needed to go home and change before showing up at the hotel again.
 

Ryo knew he needed to make amends, and to let Dee know where they stood, so treating him to dinner out seemed like the best idea. They could relax and talk while they ate, and then after dinner, perhaps they could take a walk or something, because there was something he really needed to get off his chest, something he shouldn’t have kept to himself for as long as he had.

 
It was just that he’d wanted to be completely sure of his feelings first; now that he is, he needs to admit that he’s head over heels in love with Dee.

I know this works out, but I would be so worried that he feels rejected and I wrecked my chances with him.

In the manga, Dee is up on the station house roof, moping, because he thinks he's blown it, when Ryo asks him out for dinner, but he still doesn't really get it until they're taking a walk after dinner, and Ryo tells him.
