Summary: There’s something romantic about candles and an open fire.
Disclaimer: I don’t own BtVS, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble.
There’s no electricity at the old mansion where Angel lives now, but Buffy doesn’t mind. Electricity can be too harsh, too bright, and although she knows that unlike sunlight, lightbulbs aren’t a threat to Angel, there’s something soothing about the softer light shed by the open fire in the grate, and the dozen or so candles burning in candlesticks around the room. It makes everywhere seem cosier, snug, intimate, although not in THAT way.
Candlelight is flattering too, it hides the dark circles under her eyes, the legacy of all the long nights recently, dealing with the undead while trying to study for finals and still leave time for her to have what passes for a social life.
“This is nice,” she murmurs, sitting on a rug in front of the fire, leaning her back against Angel’s broad chest as she toasts marshmallows over the flames. It’s almost domestic, in a weird kind of girlfriend-boyfriend way, even though Buffy’s the only one eating the marshmallows. Angel doesn’t indulge in people food often. “Pretty much perfect.”
“It is,” Angel agrees, and she can feel his smile even though she can’t see it. “You look beautiful.”
“Candlelight’s great for my girlish complexion.”
