Willow hates having to lock Oz up the three nights around the full moon. It doesn’t seem fair, Wolfy Oz should get to run free in the woods around Sunnydale, chasing rabbits, but there’s no way of ensuring he won’t chase people instead.
So into the book cage at the library he goes, three nights a month, with someone on watch to make sure he doesn’t get out. It’s safer for everyone that way, including Oz; Willow doesn’t want her boyfriend becoming the target of another werewolf hunter.
“I’m sorry,” she says, locking the door behind Oz and turning her back so he can undress in private, folding his clothes and putting them on top of the filing cabinet where they won’t get ruined when he transforms.
“Don’t be. It’s okay, I like knowing I’m safe where I can’t hurt anyone.”
“I wish I could do more though.”
“You do plenty.”
“It doesn’t feel that way to me.” Willow glances back over her shoulder to make sure Oz is decently hidden by the strategically placed towels, then turns.
“You stay with me, and you read to me. It helps.”
“I’m just trying to be a good girlfriend.”
“You’re the best.”
