Summary: Ianto uses a unique code to contact his friends in the Galactic underworld.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Torchwood, or the characters.
A/N: Double drabble. Set in my Through Time and Space ‘Verse.
Ianto’s less than law-abiding friends and occasional cohorts were free to contact him openly, because no one other than a Time Lord or another TARDIS had the ability to track his beautiful lady, and as far as Ianto knew, there was only one Time Lord and one TARDIS, besides his own, in the universe.
That wasn’t to say the rebels and rogues Ianto associated with were at all careless or casual when contacting him. The messages they sent were cryptic at best, but when Ianto replied, he used a code his TARDIS had created, only known to those he trusted the most, among them Burl Three Toes, a good man, as far as Ianto was concerned, although not even remotely human.
“What’s that?” Jack asked curiously, examining the message Ianto was preparing to send in response to the one he’d recently received from Burl and his sometime partner in crime Largolix Snorrd. “Looks like a swarm of ants at a picnic.”
“Secret code.” Ianto smirked at his husband. “Only ants can read it.”
“Really?” Jack looked surprised. “Wow! Do your friends have to have special ants to translate it?”
“No, twpsyn! I was joking! They just use a cipher key.”
