Setting: After the manga.
Summary: Ryo had been afraid everything would change, and it had, but not in a bad way.
Written Using: The tw100 prompt ‘Afraid’.
Disclaimer: I don’t own FAKE, or the characters. They belong to the wonderful Sanami Matoh.
A/N: Double drabble.
Ryo had been so afraid, that he’d lose the friendship he’d found, the work partnership that had clicked from the start, that he’d lose the essence of himself, the man he’d worked so hard to become… As much as he’d come to realise that he wanted what Dee was offering, until that fateful night he hadn’t been able to get past the fear that it would change everything if he slept with his partner, that Dee, once he got what he wanted, would lose interest.
Well, it HAD changed everything, but if anything, Dee was even more interested than he had been before, and Ryo still recognised himself, which was a relief, but also a bit… embarrassing, in a way. All the time he’d spent worrying and fretting had, in the end, been wasted because none of the things he’d been afraid of had come to pass.
It was funny, although not in an amusing way, that fear could force a person into inaction, leave them stuck in some kind of rut, only for them to discover that there really hadn’t been anything to be afraid of. He wished he could turn the clock back and skip all the stress.
The End
