“Stay with me, please.” Dee didn’t say the words, but he thought them, because right at that moment, the last thing he wanted, the last thing he NEEDED, was to be alone with his thoughts. Mother was in the hospital, badly injured, the orphanage had been blown sky high, along with all Dee’s memories of growing up there in his place of safety, the orphans currently under Mother’s care were now homeless… Yeah, he really didn’t want to think about any of that, but if he was alone then he’d start dwelling on what could have happened, what still MIGHT happen…
But Ryo was here, making coffee, trying to help him, but at a loss because what was there that COULD help at a time like this? The warmth of another human presence did, and Dee so badly wanted to take comfort in the arms of the man he’d already fallen in love with, even if that was the most inappropriate thing he could possibly consider. And Ryo wasn’t even resisting, which wasn’t like him, but as much as he wanted Ryo, Dee didn’t want him out of pity.
What he wanted most was company, the reassurance of a friend.
The End
