A/N: Triple drabble.
When he’d realised something had changed between Dee and Ryo, JJ had expected to feel angry, bitter, because his rival had gotten Dee, the man JJ had set his heart on more than ten years ago. After all the time JJ had invested in a relationship that had somehow never gotten off the ground, he had every right to be bitter that his happy ever after had been snatched from his grasp by someone who hadn’t even seemed interested in Dee, always pushing him away, and now…
Instead of feeling bitter, JJ just felt tired, sad, disappointed, although whether he was disappointed with Dee or himself, he wasn’t sure. All he knew was that it was the end of his long-held dream of winning the raven-haired dreamboat’s heart. Now Ryo had Dee and JJ had… no one. No change there then.
He’d really believed, to the depths of his soul, that he and Dee were destined to be together, that he was as perfect for Dee as Dee was for him, but Dee really had never been interested, no matter how hard JJ had tried to convince himself that the man of his dreams was just playing hard to get.
Losing hurt. All of JJ’s long held fantasies of romantic dinners, snuggling on the sofa, nights of raw, unbridled passion, were nothing more than daydreams, as insubstantial as mist. Now they lay in ashes around him, and JJ felt as though he’d been doused in ice water.
Perhaps Dee was right, and he HAD become obsessed, to the point where he couldn’t see anyone but the man he’d fancied himself in love with. How many other prospects might he have overlooked in his single-minded pursuit of a man he’d refused to accept wasn’t interested?
He only had himself to blame.
