Wishing a Very Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate it, and Happy Holidays to everybody else!

May the peace and joy of the season be with you all, not just now but throughout the year ahead *hugs you all in a giant group hug*

And to keep my own Christmas tradition, here are all my boys, including a new Jack (right hand side at the far end) enjoying their Christmas dinner. Hope all of you are enjoying (or have enjoyed) a feast of your own, whether with friends, family, loved ones, pets, or all of the above!

Animal spirits very often do linger. Mum had a photo that actually showed the spirit of a dog with her family long after he'd passed away.

I think this is the entertainment death that's hit me the hardest too, although my family losses obviously hit harder. Star Wars was such a huge part of my teens, and onwards, that it's hard to wrap my head around. I just really thought she was going to pull through =(

There were times after my dog, Sparkles died (and, prior to that, when her puppy, Princess--Princess Leia, to use her full name [Mom's idea, lol]--died), when I would sometimes hear claws clacking on the kitchen floor. And, living over here, Mom swears up and down that she sometimes sees a cat crossing the kitchen.

This has just been a crap year, all around. Mom has had a great year, and she feels guilty for it, considering everyone else she talks to has had such a sucky one.

Tell her not to feel bad about that because it's reassuring to know that not everyone has had a horrible year. It gives hope that having a good year is possible. If everyone had a rotten year, it would be tempting to hide under the bed and stay there.

It wouldn't surprise me at all =)
