Title: New Feet
Author: [personal profile] badly_knitted
Characters: Tenth Doctor.
Rating: G
Written For: Challenge 205: Footwear at [community profile] dw100.
Spoilers: Nada.
Summary: Every new pair of feet needs new footwear.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Doctor Who, or the characters.

The Doctor has already been through quite a few regenerations, each new body requiring a change in style. The velvet and lace his third body had favoured would have been completely out of place on his ninth. His eighth might have been able to carry off such a flouncy style, he had the hair for it, but the cricket whites of his fifth regeneration would have looked silly on him.

It’s the same with footwear; different feet need different shoes, preferably something he can run in.

The Doctor waggles his new toes. His tenth pair of feet are definitely sneaker-wearers.

The End

I can kinda see crushing on Pertwee; he's very charming, in a mildly brusque way. ^.^ He's probably one of my favorite of the early Doctors.

Haha, yes! And then that wide, heart-melting grin as it hits him! :D

Very welcome, as always! :D

My first Doctor was Five, and he's pretty high up on my favorites list. I just can't really get into Four; I think Tom Baker was good, but I don't really like how his version comes across. Maybe he just needs to grow on me; I don't know. I like him well enough in The Keeper of Traken and Logopolis; but most of the stuff I've seen with him prior to that just hasn't won me over. (I know that he's by and large practically everyone's favorite Classic Doctor, so I feel like a heretic.)

He could be pretty heartless, it's true. I'm barely rewatching Season Three, and I just feel so awful for Martha. :-/

That makes sense. Tastes do change with time, so maybe it would have been different if I'd seen him at a younger age. I was twenty when I first even discovered the show, and I only saw my first Fourth Doctor episode about three years ago; so who knows?

I don't know how she put up with Rose's ghost for so long; it takes a lot longer than that to get over someone, so whatever hope she might have had that Ten might see her was pretty well futile. It was so strong of her to wise up and walk away, and I'm glad she found a way to be happy afterward. Martha's so underrated, and unjustifiably; she's such a great character. It's good to show that the Doctor's hearts aren't the only ones in danger of being broken by anyone's association with him. (We did see that with Jack after the Game Station fiasco, but it was so much more explicit with Martha that it stands out more.)
