Dee hated getting up early when he didn’t have to, especially when he was on vacation, so Ryo shaking him awake at the crack of dawn didn’t go down well.


“There better be a fire needs puttin’ out, or somethin’ equally disastrous,” he warned, reluctantly opening one eye and scowling up at his lover. “Thought I was gonna enjoy two whole weeks of no alarm clocks, but here you are, first mornin’ of our vacation, makin’ sure I don’t get to sleep in.” He opened his other eye. “And why d’you have clothes on?”


“I’m hardly going down to the village naked.”


“The village? Why d’ya want to go there?”


“To get us something for breakfast, you dope. There’s no room service in a rented cottage.”


“Weren’t we gonna eat out?”


“For lunch and dinner, sure, but I don’t know if there’s anywhere local that does breakfasts, so if we want anything to eat in the mornings, we’ll have to get it ourselves. Now come on or I’ll leave you here and you can go without. I’m hungry.”


“Some vacation! This sucks,” Dee grumbled, dragging himself out of bed. He’d have to insist they had an early night as compensation.
