“Cream teas,” Dee read off the menu chalked onto a board outside the small tearoom. “Scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream. That’s like jelly, right?”


“More like a preserve, with lumps of fruit and seeds in it,” Ryo corrected. “And clotted cream is a lot thicker than whipped cream.”


“Sounds good. D’you think they serve coffee?”


“You could ask, but why not be completely traditional and drink proper English tea?”


“I guess tea would be okay.”


Entering the tearoom, they found a vacant table and ordered. Dee bit into a scone and groaned with pleasure. “These are amazing. We should come here for tea every day.”


Ryo laughed. “If we do that, by the time we go home we’ll both be carrying a lot of excess baggage,” he joked.


“That’s a thought; I wonder if we could take some of this clotted cream home with us.”


“I doubt it would survive the flight, let alone make it through customs. You know how strictly regulated food and drink is these days.”


“Yeah, good point. So we’ll just have to enjoy it while we’re here and do a lot of walking to burn off the calories.”


“I can live with that.”
