Spring is coming, making Ryo think of warmer days and shorter nights. After the long winter the city has just endured with gales and snowstorms, ice and pouring rain, the thought of better weather to come is giving his flagging spirits a much-needed boost. There have been times over the past three months or so when it’s seemed as though winter would go on forever.
It’s not completely over yet though; the sun may be shining, and the sky may be blue, but the fresh breeze that’s blowing from the northeast still carries with it a hint of arctic chill, enough to raise goosebumps on exposed skin and make him shiver, rubbing his hands together and stamping his feet.
Good thing he’s still wearing his winter coat; he’s seen several people hurrying past on the street wearing light summer jackets or no coat at all, looking almost blue from the cold. Just because the sun’s shining doesn’t mean it’s warm enough yet to dispense with the winter wardrobe. A couple more weeks and maybe it will be, but for now he’d rather keep mostly warm than look stylish. He just really wishes he hadn’t left his gloves in the car.
The End
