Summary: Bikky’s dad is dead, and it hurts, but he won’t be a crybaby.

A/N: Double drabble.




Bikky’s ten, a big boy, practically a teenager already, and big boys don’t cry; that’s what his dad’s always told him. His dad didn’t even cry when Bikky’s mom died; he was a real man about it. Even though he was sad he stayed strong for Bikky.


But now Bikky’s dad is dead, murdered, and Bikky hurts so much inside, like someone’s carved out a great big piece of him, maybe his heart or something. He wants to be a man about it, be strong the way his dad would be if he weren’t dead, but he doesn’t know how. Sitting still makes him feel worse, but he’s got his skates on and so he skates, as fast as he can, round and round the desks in the police station, trying to outrun the pain. It doesn’t work of course, but it’s better than doing nothing.


No matter how much he hurts he’s not going to act like a little kid, because that’s not what he is! He won’t have all the cops thinking he’s some kind of crybaby. They wanted him to identify his dad’s body, but he just… can’t. His dad is gone, but he’s not gonna cry!
