Summary: Owen finds an intriguing bit of paper.

A/N: Double drabble.
As Ianto passed Owen’s desk, a slip of paper fluttered out of the stack of folders he was taking for filing. Owen picked it up, about to tell Ianto, but then he looked at it more closely, handwritten numbers and letters, and the occasional group of odd symbols with lines and squiggles running between them, and found himself studying it, intrigued.
Perhaps the symbols and lines were sections of a blueprint. The letters and numbers were obviously a code of some kind, maybe secret instructions on how to build or use the device in the schematics…
Turning to his computer, he opened a window in the decoding software that was on all of Torchwood’s computers; you never knew when one of the team might have to crack a code, and while Tosh was better at using the programme, since she’d created it, Owen wanted to figure this one out for himself. Prove that he was better with this kind of thing than anyone gave him credit for.
He was still wrestling with it, getting nowhere, when Jack came out of his office.
“Anyone seen a scrap of paper with letters and numbers on it?”
“Why?”
“I’ve lost my crochet pattern.”
