Summary: Buffy is all too aware that she’ll probably die young.

A/N: Drabble and a half, 150 words.




A Slayer’s duty is to destroy vampires and demons, protect humanity, obey the Watcher’s Council, and keep others from finding out about the creatures she fights. It’s a harsh existence, a constant battle for survival against overwhelming odds, and it’s why few Slayers survive into adulthood. According to Giles, there’s no record of any Slayer living to the age of thirty, and most don’t even make it through their teens.


Buffy tries hard not to think of that, it’s too depressing knowing her life expectancy is more likely to be measured in months than decades, but it’s all the more reason for her to live as much as she can in whatever time she has left, and to fight with everything she’s got to stay alive for another day.


In her most optimistic moments she believes she’ll beat the odds, but deep down she knows she’s living on borrowed time.
