Summary: Ianto wishes his sister would let him help her out financially.

Rhiannon was a proud woman, not the kind to take handouts from anyone, least of all her baby brother. She and her husband might not be rich, but between Johnny’s work as a delivery driver, Rhi’s own part-time job in the local supermarket, and delivering leaflets door-to-door, they managed well enough.


Ianto knew all that, and it drove him crazy, knowing he earned more than enough to help them out if his sister would only let him. That was when he’d hit upon the idea of giving the kids money every time he visited; twenty quid each wasn’t much, but he figured it was the most he could get away with. If Rhi wouldn’t take his money, at least the kids had no such scruples and it meant they could buy the things they wanted without badgering their parents for extra pocket money for a computer game, or a new toy all their friends had.


Birthdays and Christmas he could get away with more, buying things for his family they could never afford for themselves; bikes for the kids, a second-hand car…


What was the point of money if you couldn’t spend it on the people you loved the most?
